NATIONAL ONLY CHILD DAY
It's common to see Sibling's day posts on social medias. But what about a celebration for only children? Is there an Only Children's Day?
April 10 is known as Siblings Day, in order to honor the relationship of siblings. Hundreds of thousands of Facebook posts and pictures, tweets, and Instagram pictures are uploaded and shared each year to recognize the relationship between siblings. Some, though, would rather call it "Only Child Awareness Day". How come there isn't a National Only Child Day? Afterall, according to the US Census Bureau, 20% of children in the US are only children and the only child family is the rise. In fact, in the past 20 years, the percentage of American women having one child has more than doubled.
There isn't an exact answer to why there isn't an Only Child Day. Since roughly 2012, there has been a substantial increase of the recognition of holidays including National Pancake Day, National Bird Day, and hundreds of others. In fact, there is a holiday for just about every day of the year! So there is no doubt that there should be a National Only Child Day. This is a day only children can celebrate and be proud of.
